What Is a Beam Saw?

A beam saw cuts sheet material in stacks. A pressure beam clamps the stack, and the saw carriage runs along underneath it. A pusher positions the sheets automatically from a cutting list, which usually comes from optimisation software. One operator can cut far more sheets in a day than on a sliding table saw, with less waste.

Panel Saw or Beam Saw?

If one person spends most of the day cutting sheets on a panel saw, a beam saw is usually the next step. It cuts several sheets in one pass, and the cuts are accurate and repeatable. If floor space is the issue rather than volume, a wall saw takes up far less room. After cutting, most panels go straight on to edge banding.
