Combining high productivity and solid performance in one compact machine, the SCM Model FS520 Nova Combined Planer Thicknesser is a high-quality, durable, combined planer thicknesser that will make an excellent addition to space-cautious workshops.

Maximum stability and reliability are combined with excellent ergonomics thanks to the connecting rods. This system brings fluid movement, avoidance of worktable deformations and a lifetime’s worth of great precision without the noise. With simultaneously raising work tables, perfect planing is a given. The system allows for a quick, swift and hassle-free transition from operating the thicknesser to operating the planer – all with a single movement.

Thanks to the 4 varying feed speeds, a flexible operation is granted and the adjustable feed speeds allow for a more stable, custom operating process with a lessened likelihood of feeding errors. The thicknessing table also has 2 idle rollers which make for a more effective machining process.

The planer unit utilizes a 120mm diameter cutter block with 4 knives. The pressure of the thicknesser feed roller is able to be adjusted according to the type of material being processed. The roller infeed has a helicoidal profile to ensure a firm, constant workpiece feed whilst the outfeed roller (in sandblasted steel) sustains the perfect post-processing finishing.

Producing an exceptional finish, the “Xilent” spiral knife has vastly reduced noise – making for a more comfortable, less obtrusive working environment. Also adding to a more environmentally friendly, less pollutive and healthier workplace is the improved dust extraction via the small chips. The longevity of the cutter block has been greatly extended as each cutter has 4 tips that can be rotated into the cutting position when worn.
