Briquetters

What are Briquetters?

Materials such as charcoal, sawdust, wood chips, peat and paper can be added to a briquetter to be processed and transformed into small, manageable bricks. For workshops that produce significant amounts of waste and debris, a briquetter may prove a highly valuable addition to your business.

With a variety of different uses, one of the more beneficial perks of briquetters is that they are capable of bringing in quite substantial additional income. Since materials like sawdust and wood chips make for great sources of electricity generation, heat and cooking fuel, they’re in fairly high demand with certain businesses and despite not selling for lucrative amounts – with a large build-up of materials, Briquetters can bring in hundreds of pounds.

Materials Processed by Briquetters

Despite their use as additional income, briquetters are also significantly eco-friendly. As a fuel source, when sawdust/wood chip/paper-based briquettes are burned, they are free of the pollutants that coal burning produces – making them a highly preferable alternative to coal as a source of heat.

Other materials which can be processed via a briquetter include:

– Cardboard
– Cotton
– Hay
– Polystyrene
– Textile Dust

Thanks to the robust hydraulics presses which briquettes feature, even solid metals can be processed, such as:

– Brass
– Bronze
– Cast Iron
– Copper
– Magnesium
– Steel
– Zinc

As well as all the prior mentioned benefits of a briquetter, the logistical benefits are also a great incentive to acquire one. Having your waste and debris chopped up into small bricks doesn’t just make for more space, but it makes the waste far easier to transport and distribute to other places. Also, having all this debris stored within your workshop can pose a serious fire hazard if not stored correctly. Sawdust paper, wood chips and other woodwork debris are highly flammable and can be a recipe for disaster when stored near machinery – so it’s always best to effectively dispose of or safely store materials such as these.
